Indications/Uses
Lower urinary tract symptoms associated w/ benign prostatic hyperplasia.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Administration
May be taken with or without food: Swallow whole, do not chew/crush.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity including drug-induced angioedema. History of orthostatic hypotension. Severe hepatic insufficiency.
Special Precautions
Not recommended to initiate therapy in patients whom cataract or glaucoma surgery is scheduled. Allergic reaction in patients w/ history of sulfonamide allergy. Syncope. Intraoperative floppy iris syndrome during cataract & glaucoma surgery. Sit or lie down at 1st signs of orthostatic hypotension eg, dizziness, weakness. Perform digital rectal exam & determine PSA before treatment & at regular intervals afterwards. Not to be given in combination w/ strong CYP3A4 inhibitors in patients w/ poor CYP2D6 phenotype metaboliser. Concomitant use w/ strong & moderate CYP3A4 inhibitors. May affect ability to drive & use machines. Severe renal impairment (CrCl <10 mL/min). Not to be used by women. Childn.
Adverse Reactions
Dizziness; ejaculation disorders. SJS.
Drug Interactions
Increased plasma levels w/ cimetidine. Decreased plasma levels w/ furosemide. Increased elimination rate w/ diclofenac & warfarin. Increased exposure w/ strong CYP3A4 inhibitors. Increased AUC & Cmax w/ ketoconazole. Concomitant use w/ strong & moderate CYP3A4 inhibitors. Hypotensive effects w/ α1-adrenoceptor antagonists.
